Took my nanny kids to go watch story time. We were denied because we didn’t have a library card. I go to get a library card and can’t because even though the kids live in city limits, I do not. We have been to 3 other story times in the Dallas area and they have NEVER required a library card or registration. Not only this, the old location was complete trash. The new location is located inside a business park and looks super out of place.
I have been coming to this library since I was a child. They have been through many renovations to stay current and each one is better than the last. The librarians and staff are the best. The children's department is charming and their events are top fun for the kids. The adult events are very interesting and fun too! The public access computer department is convenient and spacious. The selection of books is fantastic! We are very fortunate to have such a great resource in Richardson.
Please do not pay attention to Marina Mahaffie’s review. If she lived here, she’d know the real Library building is being renovated. While that is going on, they are in a temporary location in a business park. I love our Library. I will be checking on the story time requirements. There may be limited space availability and they may be giving seating to Richardson residents at this time, which would include Richardson daycares.
This is a first rate public library. There's a focus on the childrens area, which is split into a main area and a YA section. The former has large stuffed animals based on storybook characters and toys such as duplo. The latter is dark, and contains a selection of anime/manga as well as other YA stuff. A large reference library is located in the basement.
Very strange place. Came here for the first time this afternoon and sat in the kids area in a big chair to do some work before a school orientation. Since it was my first time; it was the only place I saw to sit on the first floor. There was plenty of open seating around me and I wasn’t taking up a table or anything. One of the employees came up and asked if my family was with me and then when I said no I was asked to move out of the kids section since it’s reserved for kids and families. It was a very awkward and uncomfortable experience. I did not see any signage posted. I am a mother who frequents libraries with my son but he wasn’t with me today. So now I cannot sit in an open seating area? It was not busy at all. I will not be returning to a place where people are made to feel unwelcomed.
They have done a fabulous job of setting up in this temporary location. You would never know, by the looks of it, that it's temporary. Yay! , subra to Richardson library staff!!
This location is the best location EVER!!! I felt like a kid in a candy store. Hadn’t been in a library in about 10 years.
A gem in Richardson, with a plethora of resources, activities and interactive displays. The staff is always friendly and helpful, the facilities are well kept and it’s got great programming and hours for all ages.
